Growing Green Cities Logo Contest
We have been using a lot of images from the web on this site. We realize that not everybody will be pleased to see ‘their’ images on this site. For this reason we have published our image policy. We do not aim to steal, we credit images to anybody who chooses this and we will remove images that rightful owners object to being used on this site. We believe that Growing Green Cities is a noble enough cause that warrants this fairly liberal approach.
We do however realize the importance of having an own identity on the internet. An identity gets established through slogans and logos, something that people will instantly recognize saying ‘oh yeah it’s them’. We want to partner with many sites on the internet and have our identity stand out immediately.
At this moment we have such a huge number of ideas and work to do that we cannot see straight. What’s worse, at this moment it’s only one person lifting this initiative off the ground. To make matters even worse, we lack any form of funding so we’re on the cheap. And to top it off, the person building this site will also be occupied with building the Growing Green Cities Greenhouse again in a couple of months when the weather in the Netherlands will become more appealing again.
In order to create this own identity, we would like to start a contest. We need some logos! So if you’re a graphic designer and you would love to help this initiative, here’s your chance to help determine our identity!
We would like to have some logos and banners designed that:
- Prominently have the colors green and blue in it.
- Prominently has the letters G, G and C in it (for Growing Green Cities)
- Has something of a ‘wave’ in it to indicate water
Those are the only requirements we have. You may add something that resembles a ‘city’, a ‘network’ etc. etc. but keep in mind that we want something simple and easy to recognize. ‘Less is More’.
As we want to brand our Facebook App with some of these logos we need quite specific dimensions for the set of graphics. These are:
- 1024×1024 (App Icon)
- 16×16 (Small App Icon)
- 800×150 (Cover Image)
- 1200×627 (Banner)
- 1848×682 (Hero Banner)
- 155×100 (Web Banner)
After you uploaded your contest submissions, we will put your set of images on a separate page and let our contributors and readers vote on the design. We are dirt poor but we’re not completely without cash! We recognize that people doing work should be compensated for that and are willing to pay for a good set of graphics. So when you submit your graphics, you will also be given a way to indicate your price.
We will make a cross-section of the votes and your price, determine what we can afford and combine this with how popular your design is. If thousands of people will love your design but you’re asking thousands of dollars, well…. sorry! If you’re moderately popular and you ask a ‘reasonable’ price, who knows!
Tentatively, we are willing to pay €100 for a good set of logos. This will however require sufficient submissions (at least 10 sets by different contestants), sufficient votes by our user base (there are very few currently, we aim to have at least a 100 soon so if you wish, tell your friends to register) and final approval of the logos by our founder.
Enter the Contest
To enter the contest you will have to register on this site first. If you’ve registered before, make sure you are logged in or you won’t see the full form below.
We can not give any specific timeframe yet. We’re working on the site very hard right now and some things still need to come together. So be prepared that after you submit your work it may actually take a little while before you will be rewarded for your work.
You can upload your submission through the form below. Before you can submit your logos you first need to register on the Growing Green Cities Network.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you’re not registered on the Growing Green Cities Network you will not see all the fields in the form below (you will not be able to upload your logos). If you don’t see those fields, please register and log in.
IMPORTANT NOTE 2: After you fill out the form, you will get a confirmation email. If you don’t confirm the email you will not be able to log in and you won’t be able to participate in the contest.
Your submissions will be shown on this page with logo contest submissions. After we have 10 designs, we will close the contest and begin the voting process. There isn’t really any way to predict how long this will take. We do not have a large user base yet.
